Practice-Based Education
A collaborative partnership with Honolulu Community College’s Cooperative Education Program and Po‘i Nā Nalu. Each student completes a rigorous curriculum including a minimum of 75 hours of program related work experience, earn a minimum of 1 college credit and stipend. Students also engage in cultural enrichment opportunities and complete a series of career development workshops.
Qualifications:
- Be enrolled in a related CTE program at HCC
- Enrolling in cooperative education for the FIRST time
- Completed at least two semesters in your declared CTE major
- Develop and locate an internship placement site with the Co-op coordinator and Po‘i Nā Nalu coordinator
- Be able to complete a minimum of 75 hours of related work experience during the summer
- Be able to complete the IS 103 co-requisite course
- Maintain positive work habits and an academic record that is always predictive of graduation
- Be able to complete and participate in all other required Po‘i Nā Nalu activities
- Be an active Po‘i Nā Nalu Participant
