Disbursements

When your financial aid is successfully processed, the Cashier's Office will apply your financial aid towards your student account according to the dates required by Federal Regulations. Please note that if your enrollment level is not the same as the level your financial aid award was based upon, the disbursement of your financial aid may be delayed and/or changed.

Grants & Waivers
Grants and waivers will be credited to your student account no earlier than 10 days prior to the start of the semester based on your enrollment level at that time. These monies are used to pay for any tuition and fees you owe.

Federal Work Study
In order to receive your Federal Work Study monies, you must visit the Honolulu CC Career Readiness and Job Placement Center to inquire about on-campus or community service work-study opportunities. Once you are placed in a position, you will receive your work study monies in the form of a paycheck for the hours worked. View detailed instructions for your work study award [PDF].

Scholarships
Scholarship disbursements are dependent on the agency giving the award. Please check with your scholarship donor for updates regarding the status of your scholarship fund(s).

Loans
Loans will be credited to your student account no earlier than 10 days prior to the start of the semester. These monies are used to pay for any tuition and fees you owe.

First time borrowers must also complete an Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note in order for loans to be disbursed. View detailed instructions on how to complete the Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note [PDF]. For first-time and first-year student loan borrowers, loans will be disbursed 30 days after the first day of school as stated by Federal Regulations.

Refunds
If your financial aid award is more than the cost of your tuition and fees, a refund check will be issued to you. Please allow at least 14 days from the disbursement date for your refund to get to you.

We highly recommend that you sign-up for e-Refund which will directly deposit your refund into the bank account you designate. If you do not sign-up for e-Refund, a check will be mailed to your mailing address as designated on your student records. View detailed instructions to check the status of your refund [PDF].
