Your award offer is determined by the amount of your need, your eligilibity for, and the availability of federal, state, and private funds administered by Honolulu CC.
Once your application has been reviewed and your eligibility has been determined, you will be notified through your UH email account advising you to view your financial aid award via MyUH. Please read the email carefully.
Most awards are based on full-time enrollment (12 credits or more). Enrollment is based on courses taken only at Honolulu Community College. Classes taken at other campuses must be applicable to your degree and verified by an academic counselor via the Dual Enrollment Authorization Form [PDF].
An incorrect enrollment level may delay the disbursement of your financial aid. If your enrollment level is incorrect or changes during the semester, you must complete a Change of Enrollment Form [PDF]. Your award may be revised and you may be required to repay any aid disbursed to you. This policy also applies if you completely withdraw from Honolulu CC or stop attending all classes. Any refund of tuition and fees due to you will be applied to any financial aid obligation you may have because of a change in enrollment.

Grants, Scholarships, Waivers, and Loans
Grants, scholarships, waivers, and student loans will be credited to your student account no earlier than 10 days prior to the start of the semester based on your enrollment level at that time. These monies are used to pay for any tuition and fees you owe.
In order to receive a Federal Direct Loan, you need to accept the loan on your MyUH portal. Also, you need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling on studentloans.gov. View detailed instructions on how to complete the MPN and Entrance Counseling [PDF]. Please note that Federal regulations require loans be disbursed 30 days after the first day of school for first-time, first-year student loan borrowers.

Federal Work Study
In order to receive your Federal Work Study monies, you must visit the Honolulu Community College Career Readiness and Job Placement Center to inquire about on-campus or community service work-study opportunities. Once you are placed in a position, you will receive your work study monies in the form of a paycheck for the hours work.
If your financial aid award is more than the cost of your tuition and fees, a refund check will be issued to you. Please allow at least 14 days from the disbursement date for your refund to get to you.
We highly recommend that you sign-up for e-Refund which will directly deposit your refund into the bank account you designate. If you do not sign-up for e-Refund, a check will be mailed to your mailing address as designated on your student records.
