Eligibility

Financial aid programs are regulated by federal, state, and institutional polices. Most of the financial aid guidelines specify the following basic eligibility requirements:

  • To be eligible for federal student aid at Honolulu Community College, you must:
  • Be accepted for admission (or currently enrolled) in an eligible degree or certificate program at Honolulu Community College;
  • Have earned either an high school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent;
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
  • Registered with Selective Service (if a male between the ages of 18-25);
  • Submit all required documents as needed to process your financial aid application;
  • Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy [PDF]; and
  • Not be in default on a Federal educational loan or owe a refund on a Federal grant.
