Eligibility

Financial aid programs are regulated by federal, state, and institutional polices. Most of the financial aid guidelines specify the following basic eligibility requirements:

• You must be seeking a degree or certificate in an approved program at Honolulu Community College (HCC).
• You must have earned either a high school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent.
• You must be either a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
• Males must have registered with the Selective Service or prove exemption from registering.
• You must make satisfactory academic progress in your courses (e.g. maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0).
• You cannot owe a refund on a Federal grant or be in default on a Federal educational loan.
• You must file the appropriate documents.
• Demonstrate financial need; by applying online at www.fafsa.gov.
