Transfer From Outside The University of Hawaii System

If you are currently a student at another institution outside of the UH System, follow these easy steps to get started at Honolulu Community College:

Step 1. Submit System Application Form

  • $25 application fee for non-Hawaiʻi residents

If you are military personnel (or dependent) stationed in Hawaiʻi, submit a copy of your military orders along with your application for admission (section F needs to be signed by your Commanding Officer)

Step 2. Apply for Financial Aid

If you are applying for financial aid, complete and return the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, available from the Financial Aid Office.

Step 3. Submit Health Clearance Forms
Step 4. Request for Official Transcripts

If you would like to transfer credits previously completed, request for an official transcript to be sent directly from your current institution, to the Records Office at Honolulu Community College. Hand carried transcripts (even though unopened) cannot be considered official.

Request for copies of course descriptions or course syllabi to be submitted with the official transcripts.

After you have been accepted:

Step 5. Get a UH Username

Detailed directions will be sent to you in your acceptance letter. This account allows you to register for classes online, check your financial aid status, check grades, pay online, and much more!

Step 6. Meet with an Academic Counselor

Bring a copy of your transcript (official or unoffical) to the Admissions & Counseling Office for assistance in selecting courses. The academic counselor can do an unofficial evaluation of courses previously taken to see what courses may apply to your program.

Step 7. Register for Courses

Students can register online for courses by logging on to MyUH Portal.

Step 8. Transfer Credits

Request for official transcripts and course descriptions to be mailed directly to our Records Office at:

After you have registered for courses, complete the Transcript Evaluation Request Form [PDF] and submit to the Records Office for an official transcript evaluation.

Step 9. Pay your tuition and fees by the posted deadline

Take a copy of your class schedule to the Honolulu CC Bookstore (located on the ground floor of Building 2) to purchase your textbooks. For bookstore hours, call (808) 845-9105.
