WELD majors only. Fundamentals of oxyacetylene and arc welding. Proper use and operation of oxyacetylene equipment. Operation and use of various types of welding machines. Electrode identification and arc welding terminology. Welding on carbon steel in the fl at fillet position.

Upon successful completion of WELD 52, the student will be able to:
- Select and use the proper safety clothing and equipment
- Demonstrate basic use of oxy-fuel cutting according to industry standards
- Demonstrate basic use and operation of shielded metal arc welding according to industry standards in a flat position
