ED 296C - Preschool Seminar: Field Experience In Early Childhood Education II

  • Prerequisite: "C" or higher in ED 151 and ED 191, and (ED 131 or FAMR 231); and in ENG 22/60 or ESL 23, OR Placement in ENG 100
  • Prerequisite or Co-requisite: "C" or higher in ED 263, ED 264
  • Co-requisite: ED 296P
  • Recommended Prep: ED 215 and ED 245
  • Instructor approval required.

Seminar to accompany the Preschool Laboratory Field Experience II class which is the culminating supervised work experience in an early childhood education and care setting. The seminar is designed to support students in integrating content knowledge with practice. May be taken on a CR/N basis.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of ED 296C, the student will be able to:

  • Evaluate, select and implement appropriate, effective teaching practices consistent with Hawaii 0-5 practice standards (ASK)
  • Demonstrate how observation and reflection are used for planning and practice
  • Integrate and apply understanding of child development, guidance, curriculum, working with families, professionalism, and program management.
  • Document and interpret children's learning and development.
  • Relate positively and effectively to children of different ages individually and in groups
  • Communicate respectfully and clearly with families using diverse means and help them understand children's development and learning.
  • Perform effectively as a member of a team in support of children's growth and learning.
