- Prerequisite: "C" or higher in ED 170; AND in ENG 22/60 or ESL 23, OR Placement in ENG 100
- Recommended Prep: ENG 100
Focuses on the inter-relatedness of and the connections between the care and education environment, teaching and caregiving styles, personal and professional development, curriculum and relationships with parents, families, and co-workers. Current issues and trends in the field of infant and toddler education and care are examined.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of ED 274, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate and explain the importance and the methods of planning and creating environments that support the well-being of children and their families in a variety of care settings
- Demonstrate awareness of individual teaching styles
- Explain the connection between self-awareness, teaching strengths and styles, and their links to individually and culturally appropriate practices in infant-toddler care-giving
- Understand and use a variety of techniques and tools to plan and implement a daily program responsive to children's needs
- Articulate developmentally, culturally sensitive program practices
- Identify and explain the implications of issues and trends in infant and toddler care to families, parents, peers or others.
