CMGT 122 - Construction Drawing for Construction Management

  • Prerequisite: CMGT 112, CMGT 114
  • CMGT majors only

This course introduces the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to prepare a complete and comprehensive set of 2D Construction Drawings. Further exploration of materials and methods of construction will be included along with an introduction to building codes and basic design guidelines. There will be a concentration in the use of AutoCAD software.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of CMGT 122, the student will be able to:

  • Understand how Graphic Communication through working drawings is used in the construction industry
  • Demonstrate advanced drafting skills, using CAD software, by producing construction drawings
  • Be more familiar with construction materials, methods and terminology
  • Calculate and size materials through the basic understanding of building code guidelines
  • Understand architectural detailing
  • Further enhance the skill to read blueprints accurately
  • Report to a workplace regularly, work with others in a professional manner, work from oral and written instructions, and manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication computation, and problem solving skills appropriate to the level of the coursework
