ABRP 72 - Automotive Composite Repairs (3)

  • Co-requisite: ABRP 68, 69, 70, 71

ABRP majors only. This course provides an introduction to the latest repair techniques of interior and exterior composite parts with an emphasis on composite identification and workability. Students will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and demonstrate their skills as they relate to composite repair.

90 hrs. total. 6 hrs. lect.; 18 hrs. lab. per week over 3.75 weeks

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of ABRP 72, the student will be able to:

  • Identify automotive different composite
  • Describe the factors on repair or replace decisions
  • Explain adhesive repair methods, tools & materials
  • Explain the procedures & steps for different plastic repairs
  • Identify SMC repair tools & materials
  • Describe one sided & two sided repair procedures
  • Identify SMC sectioning & replacing
  • Demonstrate retexturing plastic after repair
  • Demonstrate refinishing plastic after repair
