The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and Honolulu Community College (HCC) have formed an alliance to provide the most accessible bachelor's degree program available in Hawaii to military students and their spouses. You can retain all the benefits of a SOC Agreement and gain more.
With HCC courses, you will make a seamless transition to a UMUC degree program. You can take UMUC courses at sites all over the world, including locations in Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, and the Pacific. In addition, with bachelor's and master's degrees available on-line in more than 20 different areas, you can complete your UMUC degree without ever having to set foot in a classroom. As distance education becomes an important part of the military education system, you can count on UMUC to give you the advantage, no matter where you are stationed.
HCC will prepare you to move into a UMUC degree program while you complete your associate's degree with HCC. This is one-stop education at its best, meeting your needs in Hawaii as well as on your next duty assignment. You will want to take advantage of HCC's reduced-tuition classes, excellent teachers and advisors, financial aid, military-spouse scholarships, and installment-payment program.
Once you declare an area of specialization, we will provide you with two degree plans: one for your associate's degree with HCC and one for a target bachelor's degree with UMUC. We will ensure that all the general education core courses you take at HCC will transfer to your bachelor's degree program. Likewise, if you leave Hawaii, you will know what classes will transfer from UMUC to HCC to complete your associate's degree.
You can make a seamless transition from HCC to UMUC and earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in the following areas:
- Business and Management, BS
- Humanities, BA
- Information Systems Management, BS
- Psychology, BS
