College Skills Center

The mission of the College Skills Center (CSC) is to provide students with the academic support to become responsible and self-directed learners. The CSC offers an array of campus-wide academic support services to assist students with their coursework and related activities. The CSC delivers testing services (UH Community College System placement testing, distance education testing, on-campus make-up testing, non-UH testing, etc.); offers non-credit courses in placement test preparation in various modes (in-person, computerized, and/or combination of in-person and online instruction); coordinates student distance learning; coordinates service learning activities; offers instruction in college study skills; and provides tutorial services.

The Testing Center

The Honolulu Community College Testing Room is located in the College Skills Center (Bldg. 7, Rm. 316)

  • Closed on Friday, April 6, 2012
  • The Testing Room is for Distance Education and Make-Up exams only.
  • No exams will be given out in the last hour before closing.
  • Picture ID is required.
  • Closed on all State, Federal, and school holidays.

Honolulu Community College now offers services for proctoring tests/exams for institutions outside of the University of Hawaii school system for a fee.  Please contact Charles Miller (844-2396) or chmiller@hawaii.edu for further information.  All test/exam requests for outside of the University of Hawaii school system must be made 2 weeks or more prior to date of test/exam to be taken.

Drop-In Tutoring

The College Skills Center is offering drop-in tutoring for English/writing and math for all Honolulu CC students. Tutoring is available in Building 7 Room 313 during the following times:

  • Monday - Thursday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Hours effective January 9, 2012 - May 11, 2012. Closed on all State, Federal, and school holidays.

Faculty & Staff Tutoring also available: Call or email in advance for an appointment

For inquires on online English and math tutoring, please contact Brett Bulseco:

  • Online English and math tutoring will be provided by CSC Educational Specialists and qualified student tutors. If there are any questions, please contact Brett Bulseco at brett@hcc.hawaii.edu.
  • Online English and math tutoring services are only provided for University of Hawaii system distance education students taking University of Hawaii Distance Education courses.
  • All online tutoring sessions must be set up in advance.
