Congratulations to our Spring 2013 Dean's List

As an TRIO-SSS/HCC college student, you are very fortunate to be part of a higher education instiution promoting academic success. What makes it more special is that Hawaii in itself is a very culturally diverse state with lots of history, culture and language. Because of our diverse environment, the TRIO-SSS offers educational and cultural opportunites to our eligible participants.

To ensure student success, we are happy to provide our students with as much resources as needed to meet their academic, personel, career, and overall goals. Our inventory of resources are exclusive to our eligible participants.

Through faculty and staff referrals, each of our tutors/mentors have been interviewed and selected by the TRIO-SSS professional staff. In addition, they have been trained and have been found competent to provide effective assistance to our program participants.

The TRIO-SSS Scholarship is open to all active, Honolulu Community College undergraduate, TRIO-SSS eligible students, and awarded each semester (pending funds). Scholarships may be rewarded up to the maximum Pell Grant Award based on full time enrollment.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the TRIO-SSS Scholarship, an applicant must:

• A student is eligible to apply for the TRIO-SSS if a student meets all of the following requirements:
  • Is a citizen or national of the United States or meets the residency requirements to apply for Free Application for Free Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • The residency requirement includes students from American Samoa, Guam, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, and the Northern Marianas Island.
• Students who possess a Resident Alien Card.

TRIO-Student Support Service strives to provide a range of academic support, career guidance, transfer planning, and professional development opportunities to qualifying community college students who are first-generation in college, have a financial need, and/or disability and demonstrate strong academic potential.
